The Hiway House was built in the heyday of Route 66. Our room felt like it hadn’t changed much since. In particular, the heater, which was controlled by a nob above the bed that had three settings. The text on the control was completely illegible. We tried all three settings, but the room remained icy cold. Highly recommended for warmer weather!

There weren’t any vacancies at El Colonial.

Miami was mean to meāthere wasn’t a day of sunshine during the trip.
